Early Life and Career
Auguste Jordan was born in Austria to French parents. He began his football career with the youth team of Linzer ASK, before joining the first team at the age of 15. With Linzer, Jordan won several Upper Austrian championships and the Austrian Amateur Championship in 1930-31.
Move to Floridsdorfer
In 1932, Jordan transferred to Floridsdorfer AC, which was competing in the Austrian top flight. Surprisingly, the defender emerged as a prolific goalscorer, netting 16 goals in his first season to finish fourth in the league's scoring charts. He scored another 9 goals the following year.
Paris Calling
In 1933, Jordan received an offer from the Paris-based club Racing Club de France, along with his compatriot Hiden. Jordan accepted and joined Racing, where he would spend the next 12 seasons.
Success with Racing
With Racing, Jordan won the French Championship and Cup double in 1936. After the double, he went on to win the French Cup three more times with the club. Jordan retired from playing in 1945 after an illustrious career with Racing.
French National Team
In 1937, after four years of residency and playing in France, Jordan acquired French citizenship. The same year, he was invited to join the French national team and represented them at the 1938 World Cup, playing in both games. Jordan's final match for France came on December 6, 1945, against his former countrymen, Austria. He made 16 appearances for Les Bleus, scoring one goal.
Coaching Career
After his playing days, Jordan worked as a coach in French clubs. However, his greatest success came in Belgium, where he led Standard Liège to the Belgian Championship title in 1963.
