Early Life and Education
Hayk Marutyan, a renowned Soviet and Armenian actor, was born in Yerevan, Armenia. In 1963, he graduated from the Yerevan Library Technical School. Six years later, in 1969, he completed the acting program at the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinematography.
Theater Career
Marutyan began his acting career in 1963 at the Yerevan Puppet Theater. From 1969 to 1971, he performed with the Yerevan Youth Theater. His most significant theater stint was with the Sundukyan Drama Theater in Yerevan from 1971 to 1979. He concluded his theater career in 1979 as an actor at the Teletheater.
Filmography
Marutyan made his film debut in 1970 with "Rodnik Egnar." He went on to star in numerous films throughout his career, including "One Villagers" (1974), "Birth" (1976), and "Star of Hope" (1978). Other notable films he appeared in include "The Barber Whose Uncle's Head Was Bitten Off by a Trained Tiger" (1983), "Tango of Our Childhood" (1985), and "Where Are You Going, Soldier?" (1985).
Recognition and Awards
Marutyan received the State Prize of the Armenian SSR for his contributions to theater and film. In 2009, he was bestowed the title of People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia. He was also awarded the Movses Khorenatsi Medal on March 27, 2009, in recognition of his exceptional achievements in theatrical arts.
