Early Life and Education

Lee Majors, whose real name is Harvey Lee Yeary, was born in Wyandotte, a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. He was the only son of Carly Yeary, who died in a workplace accident before Majors was born, and Alice Yeary, who died in a car accident when Majors was just one year old. In 1941, when Majors was two years old, he was adopted by his uncle and aunt, Harvey and Mildred Yeary, and they all moved to Middlesboro, Kentucky. At that time, his adopted parents already had a son, Bill.

Majors developed a passion for sports as his older brother became a football star in high school. In his later years of school, Majors actively participated in various sports, from cycling to football. In 1957, he graduated from high school and earned a scholarship to Indiana University, where he continued to develop his athletic abilities. Two years later, Majors transferred to Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond. There, he joined the college football team. However, in his first game, Majors suffered a back injury, which left him paralyzed for two weeks. This marked the end of his football career.

Acting Career

After graduating from university, Majors received an offer to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals football team but declined. Instead, he moved to Los Angeles and started working as a director of sports entertainment at Hollywood Park. There, Majors met many celebrities and talent agents. He became acquainted with Dick Clayton, James Dean's agent, who invited the former football player to an acting school. Majors studied at the school for a year, changed his name to Lee Majors, and with Clayton's help, he began his acting career.

In addition to the TV series for which Majors is most remembered, he also appeared in several feature films. His filmography includes "The Norseman" (1978), "Steel" (1979), "Killer Fish" (1979), "Agency" (1980), "The Last Chase" (1981), "Starflight One" (1983), "Scrooged" (1988), "Out Cold" (2001), "Big Fat Liar" (2002), and "The Brothers Solomon" (2007).
