Bajrang Punia, born in 1994 in the village of Khudan in Haryana, India, began his wrestling journey at the age of seven, inspired by his father. In 2015, his family relocated to Sonipat, where he gained access to the local sports complex, further fueling his athletic aspirations.

Sporting Career

Early Success and Medals:

Punia emerged as a force on the international wrestling scene in his youth, winning the Asian Cadet Championships in 2010 and 2011. He went on to claim a silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships in 2012.

Dominance at the Senior Level:

In 2013, Punia made his senior debut and immediately showcased his exceptional skills. He earned bronze medals at both the World Championships and the Asian Championships. The following year, he added silver medals from the Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games, and the Asian Championships to his list of accolades.

Asian and Commonwealth Triumphs:

Punia's dominance in continental and Commonwealth competitions continued in 2016 and 2017. He captured the Commonwealth Championship, the Asian Championship, the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, and finished as runner-up at the World Championships for wrestlers under 23.
