Biography of Beatriz Sheridan
Beatriz Sheridan was a renowned Mexican actress and director. She was born as Elizabeth Anne Sheridan Scarborough on June 25, 1934, in Mexico City to a Mexican father and an English mother. She grew up with eight siblings in her family.
Sheridan studied at the University of Missouri under Professor Seki Sano, who aimed to improve the Stanislavski system. She worked extensively in both film and theater throughout her career. In June 1958, she participated in the filming of Mexico's first telenovela, "Sanda prohibida," alongside Sylvia Derbez. She continued to appear in television series for many years.
In 1987, Sheridan began her work as a director. It was thanks to her that famous series such as "Just Maria" (1989) with Victoria Ruffo and "Wild Rose" with Verónica Castro were created. She excelled not only in contemporary series but also in period dramas, such as "Alondra" with Ana Colchero and "True Love" with Adela Noriega. In many of the series she directed, Beatriz Sheridan also played minor roles. Her last work was the series "Against Fate" (2005).
Beatriz Sheridan never married or had children, dedicating her entire life to her career and her nephews and nieces. She passed away on April 30, 2006, at her home in Mexico City from a heart attack. Many famous Mexican actors, including María Sorté, Azela Robinson, Jacqueline Andere, and Juan Ferrara, came to bid farewell to her. According to her wishes, her body was cremated and scattered near the beaches of Cozumel.
