Early Life and Career

Belinda (Belle) Jane Emmett was an Australian actress and singer known for her roles in the television shows "Home and Away" and "All Saints". She was born in Gosford, Australia, to Michael and Lorraine Emmett and grew up in Umina Beach, New South Wales. Emmett worked at the local radio station, Coast Rock FM, while also being the lead vocalist in the band "Big Baby Jam".

Rise to Fame

In 1994, Emmett landed her first major role on Australian television as Tracy Russell in the comedy series "Hey Dad..!". She then went on to play Rebecca Fisher in "Home and Away" starting in 1996, which earned her nominations for "Silver Logie" for Most Popular Actress in 1998 and 1999, as well as a nomination for "Gold Logie" in 1999. During this time, Emmett posed nude for a special issue of the Australian magazine "Black+White".

Battle with Cancer

In 1998, at the age of 24, Emmett was diagnosed with breast cancer. She took a break from "Home and Away" and underwent surgery to remove the malignant tumor, followed by six weeks of radiation therapy. Despite her health struggles, Emmett continued her career and portrayed Jodi Horner in nine episodes of the series "All Saints" after leaving "Home and Away".

In addition to her acting, Emmett also pursued a music career. In 1998, she released a cover version of Michael Jackson's song "Off the Wall". Personal Life and Legacy

On January 29, 2005, Emmett married comedian and television star Rove McManus. They had met in 1999 at the opening of Fox Studios in Sydney. However, on September 11, 2006, Emmett passed away from cancer at St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney. She had been admitted to the hospital a week earlier due to the rapid progression of her illness.

Emmett's death was mourned by Australian Prime Minister John Howard and his wife, as well as opposition leader Kim Beazley. She was remembered as a symbol of strength and resilience in her battle against cancer.
