Early Life and Marriage

Ben Bova was born on November 8, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married Rose Kuchinotta in 1953, and they had a son and a daughter. The couple divorced in 1974, and he married Barbara Berson Rose the same year. Barbara Rose passed away on September 23, 2009.

Education and Career

Bova attended Temple University, graduating with a degree in journalism in 1982. In the 1950s, he worked as a technical writer on the Vanguard project. He later worked at Avco Everett in the 1960s, where he met Arthur Kantrowitz.

Editing and Writing Career

In 1972, Bova became the editor of Analog magazine after the death of John Campbell. He won the Hugo Award for Best Magazine Editor from 1973-1977 and 1979. He later moved on to Omni magazine.

Bova has written over 115 works of non-fiction and science fiction. He has been a leading figure in science fiction, serving as president of the Science Fiction Writers of America from 1990 to 1992.
