Ben Slack was an American actor known for his roles in various television series and films. He was born on July 23, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
Television Career
Slack spent a significant amount of his career working on television projects, frequently appearing in popular series such as "Cagney & Lacey," "The Wonder Years," and "The Practice." He had the opportunity to work alongside renowned actors such as Megan Cole, Raymond Cruz, Cliff De Young, Albert Hall, James Ingersoll, Jack Kehler, Laurence Monoson, Tim Ransom, John Rubinstein, and Barry Wiggins.
He became a regular cast member on the series "The Wonder Years," where he worked closely with Olivia d'Abo. Slack also had a guest appearance in an episode of the television series "Star Trek: Voyager," alongside Robert Picardo. He could be seen in the pilot episode of the popular medical drama series "St. Elsewhere," which aired in 1982. The main roles in this episode were played by Ed Begley Jr., Norman Lloyd, Caviezel Raz, and Jennifer Savidge. Slack reprised his role in the series the following year when Chad Allen and Jane Wyatt joined the cast of "St. Elsewhere." He was invited to appear in numerous television series, including long-running shows such as "Kojak," "Barney Miller," "Hill Street Blues," "Scarecrow and Mrs. King," "Moonlighting" (episode with Vincent Schiavelli), "The A-Team," "Hunter," "Murder, She Wrote," "Night Court," "L.A. Law," "NYPD Blue," and "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" (episode with K Callan and Teri Hatcher).
Ben also portrayed Dr. Adam Garwood in William Shatner's television series, "T.J. Hooker," in 1983, alongside James Darren and Richard Herd.
Filmography
In addition to his television work, Slack also appeared in several made-for-television movies. In 1982, he starred in the action film "The Wall," directed by Robert Markowitz. The following year, he appeared in the drama "Sadat" alongside Louis Gossett Jr. and John Rhys-Davies. In 1988, he acted in the film "Child" alongside Stephen Liska and Deacon Matthews. In 1996, he played Eddie Addison in the thriller "Death Benefit," directed by Mark Piznarski. His filmography includes the musical romance "Slow Dancing in the Big City" (1978), the thriller "Murder in the First" (1995) with Christian Slater and Kevin Bacon, and the sci-fi action film "Dark City" (1998) with Eric Roberts.
Legacy and Death
One of Slack's most memorable film roles was as Dr. Cleveland in the horror film "Society" (1989). Sadly, Ben Slack passed away at the age of 67 on December 13, 2004.
