Early Career

Benjamin Auer, a German footballer, began his professional career at Karlsruher SC before joining Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2000. Unfortunately, an injury to his ligaments at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina sidelined him for an extended period.

Upon his recovery, Auer returned to Borussia Mönchengladbach. However, disagreements with coach Hans Meyer led him to depart and join Mainz 05 in 2002. Over the course of four seasons with Mainz, he made 116 appearances and scored 30 goals.

Later Career

In the summer of 2006, Auer moved to VfL Bochum. However, he struggled due to injuries and a viral illness. Following his recovery, he was loaned out to 1. FC Kaiserslautern, but injuries continued to plague him. In 2008, Auer signed with Alemannia Aachen, where he emerged as the Bundesliga 2's top scorer in the 2008/09 season (alongside Marek Mintal and Cédric Makiadi) with 16 goals.
