Early Life and Education

Benjamin Walker was born on June 21, 1982, in Cartersville, Georgia. His father was a businessman who owned a video rental store, while his mother was a music teacher. Walker developed a strong interest in acting during his childhood, participating in school plays. After graduating high school, he moved to Michigan to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy. He later enrolled in the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied acting until 2004.

Film Career

Walker's first film role came in the same year he graduated from Juilliard. He portrayed a young Alfred Kinsey in the biographical drama "Kinsey," which examined the pioneering sex researcher's work. While also appearing in comedy shows in Los Angeles and New York City, Walker made his Broadway debut in the 2007 production of "Inherit the Wind." He continued to balance theatrical projects with film and television appearances, notably turning down a role in "X-Men: First Class" to star in a Broadway musical.

In 2005, Walker played a supporting role in "The Notorious Bettie Page," a historical drama about the titular model who became a controversial figure of the 1950s. He also appeared in Clint Eastwood's war drama "Flags of Our Fathers" as Herlon Block. In 2009, he starred in the crime drama "War Boys" as David, one of three childhood friends who reconnect after years apart.

Walker's notable roles continued in the 2010s. In 2011, he portrayed a clerk in the comedy "Wolfe with an E," and in 2012, he played the iconic President Abraham Lincoln in the fantasy horror film "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." This unique portrayal of the 16th President earned Walker international recognition.

In 2013, Walker starred as Kevin Kennedy in "Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight," a biographical film focusing on the boxer's refusal to serve in the Vietnam War. He later played a ship captain in the 2015 adventure thriller "In the Heart of the Sea," which depicted the harrowing survival of the crew of the whaling ship Essex after being attacked by a sperm whale.

Walker has continued to appear in both film and television, including starring in the romantic drama "The Choice" (2016), the detective drama "Lake Shimmer" (2017), and the fantasy adventure "The King's Daughter" (2018).

Personal Life

Benjamin Walker was first married to Mamie Gummer, the daughter of actress Meryl Streep. They divorced after two years of marriage. In 2014, Walker became engaged to British actress Kaya Scodelario, known for her roles in the "Maze Runner" franchise and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." They married a year later and welcomed a son in 2016.

Walker maintains an active social media presence, particularly on Instagram, where he shares updates on his personal life and career.
