Early Life and Education
Berk Hakman was born on August 14, 1981, in Ankara, Turkey. Growing up with his siblings, Kan and Damla, Hakman was greatly influenced by his father, a renowned musician who had met John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Inspired by his father's music, Hakman dreamed of starting his own band and playing concerts. He began playing the guitar at the age of 11 and later mastered various other instruments, including keyboards, drums, and wind instruments.
Despite his love for performing, Hakman initially pursued a career in tourism management at the Mediterranean University in Antalya. However, his passion for theater gradually took hold, and he joined the university's drama club. Eventually, he dropped out of university and enrolled in the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul to study acting.
Film and Television Career
Hakman made his film debut in 2004 with the youth comedy "Okul." In 2007, he landed his first significant role in the movie "Cango," portraying a village madman suffering from personal turmoil. Despite his growing popularity, Hakman chose to avoid hiring a manager, preferring to select projects based on his own principles. He often took on supporting roles rather than lead roles due to his commitment to choosing meaningful characters and scripts.
In 2013, Hakman gained recognition for his role in the crime series "Kacagi." He played the supporting role of Ertan, a criminal associated with the mafia. From 2016 to 2019, he starred in the romantic comedy series "Aşk Laftan Anlamaz." Hakman's portrayal of Kaan, the protagonist's best friend, garnered widespread acclaim.
In recent years, Hakman has continued to appear in both films and television series. He composed the soundtrack for the 2019 film "Taksim Hold'em." Additionally, he played a significant role in the drama series "Siyah Inci" and is currently starring in "Duy Beni."
Personal Life
Hakman's childhood was marked by shyness and insecurities due to his nearsightedness and eyeglasses. As a teenager, he developed a fascination with The Beatles and grew his hair long like his idols. However, while his peers embarked on romantic relationships, Hakman remained aloof in his adolescence.
Despite his fame, Hakman maintains a modest and solitary lifestyle. He prefers solitude and shies away from social events or interviews. His personal relationships have remained private, with a brief romance with Russian writer Olga Karpovich ending in controversy. After their separation, Karpovich made negative allegations about Hakman in her books and accused him of stalking and threats. A court order was issued in 2020 prohibiting Hakman from approaching Karpovich.

Current ProjectsIn 2022, Hakman starred in the series "Duy Beni," which explores the dark secrets within an elite school. He plays Selim, a literature teacher who grapples with the moral dilemmas of protecting his students while knowing their hidden truths. The series is set to return for a second season in 2023.
