Biography of Betty Lou Keim
Betty Lou Keim was born in 1938 in Malden, Massachusetts, to choreographer Buster Keim and dancer Dorothy Keim. At the age of 5, she moved with her family to New York. Keim began dancing at the age of 6, with her father as her first teacher. She soon started taking vocal lessons as well. Her stage debut came at the age of 7 in the production of "Strange Fruit", and she soon made her Broadway debut. Keim gained recognition from the audience with her role in "A Roomful of Roses".
Early Career
In the early 1950s, Keim began her career in television, appearing in series such as "Armstrong Circle Theatre", "Lights Out", "Hallmark Hall of Fame", and "My Son Jeep". Her most significant television role came in the series "My Son Jeep". In 1956, Keim starred in the drama film "Teenage Rebel" directed by Edmund Goulding. The following year, she appeared in another drama film, "The Wayward Bus", directed by Victor Vicas. In the 1958 melodrama film "Some Came Running", Keim shared the screen with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
Later Years and Personal Life
After "Some Came Running", Keim's career in film came to an end, but she continued working in television until 1960, with her final role in the series "The Deputy". Beyond the cameras and sets, Keim's life took a different direction. She married popular actor Warren Berlinger, with whom she had four children: Lisa, David, Edward, and Elizabeth. The couple remained together for half a century until Keim's death in 2010.
Legacy and Death
Betty Lou Keim passed away from lung cancer on January 27, 2010, in Chatsworth, California. Throughout her career, she appeared in nearly two dozen films and television shows. Keim's talent and contributions to the entertainment industry are remembered and celebrated to this day.
