By the early 1980s, Vijay had already played around fifteen roles and gained recognition in the Indian film industry. In addition to acting, he also tried his hand at filmmaking, acquiring his own equipment. In the 1990s, he started working as a cinematographer, contributing to over twenty movies in that role.
Some of Vijay's notable acting works in the 1980s included the drama "Ek Din Bahu Ka" by Dash Gautam and "Dost Garibon Ka" by S.P. Dixit. Despite not becoming a top-tier star, Vijay Arora was completely satisfied with his career. In an interview a few months before his passing, he confessed that he never chased after roles and carefully selected his characters. He willingly took on villainous roles, not striving to only play heroes and winners. However, he refused to portray characters that were immoral, tarnishing his reputation or not suitable for his age and self-respect. Vijay proudly mentioned that he was still offered roles, which he considered a testament to his successful career.
Vijay Arora was married to Dilber Debara, a former Miss India. His only son, Farhad, followed in his father's footsteps. The actor passed away on February 2, 2007, after battling cancer.
