Embracing Spirituality in Germany

After completing pilot training in Kolkata, Bhakti Charu traveled to Germany to pursue further studies. It was during this time that he began exploring Hindu scriptures, discovering the richness of India's spiritual heritage.

Meeting Srila Prabhupada and Joining ISKCON

In 1975, Bhakti Charu returned to India, determined to find a spiritual mentor. After extensive searching, he stumbled upon a book by Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). The depth of Prabhupada's teachings captivated him, inspiring him to journey to the society's headquarters in Mayapur.

Initiation and Service

Upon meeting Prabhupada, Bhakti Charu was immediately recognized for his intelligence and potential. He was appointed the society's secretary for India and tasked with translating Vaishnava literature into Bengali. Within a few months, he received his spiritual initiation and the Sanskrit name "Bhakti Charu Dasa."

In 1996, Bhakti Charu Swami collaborated with Indian national television to produce a groundbreaking television series about the life of Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. In the early 2000s, Bhakti Charu Swami dedicated himself to the construction of a temple and Vedic cultural center in Ujjain, a holy city in India. Under Bhakti Charu Swami's leadership, the ISKCON temple in Ujjain distributes free vegetarian lunches to 23,000 schoolchildren daily. To support this colossal undertaking, a massive industrial kitchen has been built adjacent to the temple. The long-term goal is to expand the program and feed over 100,000 children each day.
