Biography of Bible John
Bible John was the nickname given to an unidentified serial killer who committed his crimes in Glasgow, Scotland in the late 1960s. Although three murders have been attributed to Bible John, there is still uncertainty whether they were all committed by the same person.

The Victims
The first victim, Patricia Docker, was found dead on February 23, 1968. She had been strangled and was last seen at a nightclub the night before. The second victim, Jemima McDonald, disappeared on August 15, 1969 after visiting a nightclub and was found dead the next day. She had also been strangled with her own stockings. The third victim, Helen Puttock, was killed on October 31, 1969. She had been out with her sister at the same nightclub where they met two men, both named John. Helen was found strangled the next morning.

The Investigation
Jean Puttock, the sister of Helen, provided the most useful information to investigators. She described Bible John as a well-dressed and attractive young man with red hair, who frequently quoted from the Bible during their conversations. Although Jean remembered that Bible John mentioned his surname as either Templeton or Sempleson, this information was not enough to identify him. Witnesses last saw Bible John getting on a bus on the night of Helen's murder, and his trail disappeared after he was spotted on a ferry in the southern part of the city.

Suspects and DNA Testing
In 1996, the body of John Irvine McInnes was exhumed for DNA testing. McInnes had committed suicide in 1981. However, the DNA analysis did not provide a conclusive answer. Later, the police tested the DNA of various suspects, and one of them showed an 80% match with the samples found on Helen's stockings. However, by that time, the semen samples of Bible John had been improperly stored and were no longer usable.

Peter Tobin
In 2007, Peter Tobin was convicted of the murder of student Angelika Kluk. Police compared photos of Tobin from 40 years ago with the description of Bible John and found similarities. Tobin had lived in Glasgow during the time of the murders and was a devout Catholic. However, DNA comparison once again yielded no results due to the degradation of the Bible John samples.

Conclusion
The hunt for Bible John came to a halt in September 2010 after the death of Jean Puttock-McLaughlan, the only survivor who had seen the killer. The identity of Bible John remains a mystery to this day.
