Early Life and Arm Wrestling CareerGary Goodridge, a renowned mixed martial artist and professional kickboxer, hails from Canada. Prior to venturing into MMA, Goodridge achieved significant success in arm wrestling. Notably, he emerged victorious against Sharon Remez and John Brzenk in 1991.
MMA Career
Goodridge made his MMA debut at UFC 8, where he swiftly dispatched Paul Herrera with a series of elbow strikes in a mere 13 seconds. However, he stumbled in the finals against Don Fry. Despite subsequent appearances at UFC 9, UFC 10, and Ultimate Ultimate 1996, Goodridge faced repeated setbacks, including a second loss to Fry. He subsequently joined PRIDE Fighting Championships and signed with K-1's MMA division, Hero's.
At PRIDE 1, Goodridge triumphed over Oleg Taktarov, sending him to the hospital. While he endured a defeat against Fedor Emelianenko in 2003, Goodridge managed to exact revenge against Don Fry.
Later MMA Career and Retirement
From 2008 onwards, Goodridge experienced a string of losses in MMA. In 2009, he engaged in an ill-fated match against Gegard Mousasi at Dynamite!! 2009, succumbing to a technical knockout in the first round.
Kickboxing Career
Goodridge ventured into kickboxing in 1999, facing Musashi at K-1 Revenge. Despite early setbacks, he later celebrated his first K-1 victory against Mike Bernardo in 2002.
2005 proved to be a productive year for Goodridge, as he advanced to the finals of the K-1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas. Though he ultimately lost to Glaube Feitosa, he redeemed himself by winning the tournament in Honolulu three months later.
