Fantasy and Science Fiction Author and Game Designer

Bill Coffin is widely recognized as an influential figure in the fantasy and science fiction genres, as well as a prominent tabletop game developer. He is perhaps best known for his work at the game publishing company Palladium Books, where he was responsible for creating the Palladium role-playing game line from July 1998 to May 2002. Notable games from this series include Palladium Fantasy, Heroes Unlimited, Riffs, and his own creation, Systems Failure.

Early Life and Legacy

Born on September 17, 1970, in Easton, Pennsylvania, Coffin played a significant role in Palladium Books' early history. However, due to a conflict with company president and co-founder Kevin Siembieda, Coffin regrettably left the organization, leaving fans disappointed.

Conflict and Departing Palladium Books

At the time of his departure, Bill Coffin had been the primary developer for six of the company's products. Two projects saw his role diminished to secondary or tertiary authorship, while four others were indefinitely shelved. Furthermore, the company discontinued support for his game, Systems Failure, and ceased printing new copies.

Post-Palladium Work

In March 2007, Coffin revealed that he was working on a new campaign setting for D6 Space entitled Septimus. However, the project was canceled in March 2008 due to financial pressures. Coffin later announced his intention to self-publish it in PDF format. In May 2009, the original publisher once again agreed to publish the campaign.
