Man with Sinonasal Undifferentiated Carcinoma
In February 2009, American man Billy Owen saw the world in a new light. It is not surprising, as losing an entire eye completely changes a person's perspective on life. Before, in his "two-eyed" life, Owen was a successful car mechanic, a loving and beloved husband, and an exemplary father. In short, everything was going well for him, but at some point, he began to experience headaches and itching in his nasal sinuses. Initially attributing it to the seasonal flu, Owen self-medicated with over-the-counter cold and nasal congestion remedies for some time. However, as weeks went by, the problem did not go away. That's when he decided to seek help from a specialist. The diagnosis came as a shock - sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma, a rare form of nasal cavity cancer with a 90% fatality rate. And since Owen sought medical attention late, doctors had to remove not only the tumor itself but also literally half of the patient's face, including the right eye, muscles, and nerves. Now, instead of a beautiful brown eye, Billy Owen has a hole. However, the man did not forget the popular wisdom: if fate hands you lemons, make lemonade. Despite having to leave his career as a mechanic, Owen believes that his life has changed for the better. For example, he stopped hanging out in bars, became more peaceful, and found faith in God. Moreover, his acquired disability opened new doors for him. Specifically, the doors of entertainment establishments in Las Vegas, where Owen participates in various performances and freak shows. Thus, the man not only defeated an incurable disease but also managed to remain the breadwinner for his family. Billy Owen is happy and believes that everything will be alright.
