Her breakthrough came in 2010 with the leading role of Havva Karagül in the television series "Melekler Korusun." The series became a national success and earned Akalay critical acclaim for her portrayal of a determined and loving woman.

Akalay continued to star in popular television dramas, including "Beni Affet," "Paramparça," and "Her Sevda Bir Veda." In 2017, she achieved international recognition with her role as Dr. Aslı Çınar in the hit series "Siyah Beyaz Aşk."
