Biography of Boban Marjanovic
Boban Marjanovic is a Serbian basketball player who plays as a center. He is currently a member of the NBA team, the Houston Rockets, as well as the Serbian national team. Marjanovic is known for being one of the tallest basketball players in NBA history.
Early Career
Marjanovic began playing basketball for his school team in 1999. In August 2003, he joined the basketball club "Hemofarm" where he played for their junior team during the 2006-2007 season. He was then loaned to "Lions" before deciding to forgo participation in the NBA draft in 2009.
CSKA Moscow and Zalgiris
On July 6, 2010, Marjanovic transferred to the Moscow-based team, PBK CSKA. In January 2011, he went on loan to Zalgiris until the end of the season. However, after the 2010/11 season, CSKA decided to terminate Marjanovic's contract.
Nizhny Novgorod and Radnicki Kragujevac
On July 11, 2011, Marjanovic signed a two-year contract with BC Nizhny Novgorod. In January 2012, he moved to the Serbian team "Radnicki" Kragujevac.
Mega and Crvena Zvezda
In July 2012, Marjanovic signed a contract with the Serbian team "Mega" for the 2012/13 season and was named the MVP of the Serbian Basketball League. In the 2013/14 season, he joined the club "Crvena Zvezda" and was named the MVP of the 10th round of the Euroleague.
Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Clippers
After the 2015/16 season, Marjanovic became a restricted free agent. On July 7, 2016, he received a three-year, $21 million offer from the Detroit Pistons. However, on January 29, 2018, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers along with Tobias Harris.
Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks
On February 6, 2019, Marjanovic was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. Later, on July 23, 2019, he signed a contract with the Dallas Mavericks. He extended his contract with the Mavericks in August 2021.
Houston Rockets
On June 24, 2022, Marjanovic was traded to the Houston Rockets. However, on February 9, 2023, he was waived by the Rockets to make room for other players acquired before the trade deadline. On February 13, the Rockets signed Marjanovic to a new contract until the end of the season.
Serbian National Team
Marjanovic made his debut for the Serbian national team on August 27, 2008. He was part of the extended roster for the 2010 FIBA World Cup.
