Early Life and FamilyLuka Dončić, born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on February 28, 1999, is the son of former basketball player Saša Dončić and salon owner Mirjam Poterbin. His family moved from Klinë, Serbia, to Slovenia. Dončić's parents divorced in 2008, and he remained with his mother.
Professional Career
European CareerAt the tender age of 13, Dončić signed his first professional contract with Real Madrid. He made his debut in the ACB League at 16, becoming the third-youngest player in the league's history. In 2018, he led Real Madrid to EuroLeague glory and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
NBA Career
Dallas Mavericks (2018-Present)Selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Dončić's rights were traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He signed a contract with the team on July 9, 2018, and quickly established himself as a rising star.
