Bobby Bonilla, whose full name is Roberto Martin-Antonio "Bobby" Bonilla, was born on February 23, 1963, in the Bronx, New York, into a Puerto Rican family. From a young age, Bobby had a passion for sports, particularly baseball. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, he quickly found success. His sports career began with the Pittsburgh Pirates, a baseball club in Pennsylvania, where he demonstrated exceptional talent.

In 1985, Bobby suffered a broken right leg during a match, causing a temporary setback. However, after recovering, he resumed playing and quickly progressed from one level to another. Soon, Bobby Bonilla made his debut in the Major League. During the same period, from 1984 to 1988, he also played for the Mayaguez Indians in the Puerto Rican Winter League.
