Biography of Bobby Steggert

Early Life and Education

Bobby Steggert is an American actor of theater, film, and television. He was born in Frederick, Maryland and attended school there, graduating as the top student in his class in 1999. Steggert received his higher education at the School of Arts at New York University and later attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England.

Career

Steggert's career began with the role of Sam Grey in the soap opera "All My Children," which he played from March to December 2005. He then went on to perform in various Broadway and off-Broadway productions, including "Master Harold...and the Boys," "A Christmas Carol," and "The Music Teacher." He also appeared in productions by the New York Theatre Workshop.

In 2007, Steggert received critical acclaim for his role as Jim Curry in the Broadway revival of "110 in the Shade," earning him a nomination for the Outer Critics Circle Award. He continued to gain recognition with his performance in the musical "The Slug Bearers of Kayrol Island" at the Vineyard Theater in Manhattan, which earned him nominations for both the Drama Desk and Drama League Awards for Best Featured Actor.

Steggert has also performed in various roles across the country, including notable performances as Dolphin in George Bernard Shaw's "Saint Joan," Juliet in "Shakespeare's R&J" at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, and in "The Cripple of Inishmaan" at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater.

In addition to his theater work, Steggert has also appeared in several films, including "The Namesake," "Kinsey," "Game 6," and "For Richer or Poorer." He currently resides in New York City and continues to work in the theater.

Steggert's performances have earned him multiple award nominations, including Tony Awards, Drama Desk Awards, Outer Critics Circle Awards, and Drama League Awards. He was nominated for his role in "Ragtime" and "Yank!" but unfortunately did not win any of these awards. Steggert's last on-screen appearance was in 2008 on "Live from Lincoln Center."
