Biography of Bohdan Hubsky

Bohdan Hubsky is a Ukrainian businessman and politician who served as a member of the Verkhovna Rada, the national parliament of Ukraine. He was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, into a military family. In 1985, he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where he studied cybernetics. In 1989, he obtained a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences degree.

In 1998, Hubsky earned a doctorate in economics with a thesis titled "Investment Processes in the Conditions of Globalization (Methodology of Systemic Research and Optimization)". From 1994 to 1998, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ukrainian Industrial Financial Concern Slavutych. Additionally, from 1992 to 1998, he held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Credit Bank. During the years 1993 to 1998, he also served as the First Vice President of the football club Dynamo Kyiv.

Hubsky became the leader of the party United Ukraine in July 2004. In April 2006, he was elected as a member of parliament representing the faction of the Bloc Yulia Tymoshenko. However, he was expelled from the party and faction in September 2010. In 2011, he voted in favor of pension reform.

Hubsky's name has been closely associated with the "land grab" scandal in the Kyiv region. He is married and has two children. He was included in the list of the most influential people in Ukraine in 2006 according to the magazine Korrespondent.
