Early Life and Career in Slovenia
Born in Kranj, SloveniaBoštjan Jokić was born on June 14, 1986, in Kranj, Slovenia. He began his football career with his hometown club Triglav Kranj.
Move to Gorica and Domestic Success
At the age of 19, Jokić joined ND Gorica. In 2006, he helped the club win the Slovenian Championship, their third consecutive title. The following year, Gorica finished as runners-up.
Departure to France
After his success in Slovenia, Jokić was acquired by French club FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in 2007. He played with Sochaux until 2010.
Loan to Chievo and Italian Purchase
During the 2009/10 season, Jokić struggled for playing time at Sochaux and was loaned to Serie A club Chievo Verona in January 2010. He helped Chievo avoid relegation, playing in nine matches. In the summer of 2010, Chievo purchased Jokić's rights from Sochaux.
International Career
Debut and Regular PresenceJokić made his international debut for Slovenia on February 28, 2006, in a friendly against Cyprus. He has become a regular in the team, making over 35 appearances.
2010 World Cup
Jokić played in all three of Slovenia's matches at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, earning two yellow cards. He was the only Slovenian player to receive multiple bookings in the tournament.
