Ukrainian-American artist, designer, and illustrator, Boris Artzybasheffwas born in 1899 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. During the Russian Civil War, he emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York City in 1919. He soon began working in an engraving studio.
Prolific Illustrator
Throughout his career, Artzybasheff created illustrations for over 50 books, numerous advertising materials, and magazine covers. His notable clients included Xerox, Shell Oil, Pan Am, Casco Power Tools, Alcoa Steamship lines, Parke Davis, Avco Manufacturing, Scotch Tape, Wickwire Spencer Steele, Vultee Aircraft, World Airways, and Parker Pens.
