Boris Tenin: A Renowned Soviet Actor
Early Life and Education
Boris Tenin was born on March 23, 1905, in Kuzneck, Penza Governorate. He graduated from the State Institute of Musical Drama in 1922.
Stage Career
Tenin began his acting career in 1920. He performed at various Moscow theaters, including the Moscow Review Theater and the Music Hall. He also appeared in V. E. Meyerhold's Free Workshop, the Meyerhold Theater, and "The Blue Blouse" Theater.
In 1932-1936, he was an artist at the Moscow Music Hall. From 1937-1946, he worked at the Leningrad Comedy Theater. He joined the Film Actors' Studio Theater in Moscow in 1947. In 1962, he became part of the Moscow Drama Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. Finally, in 1974, he joined the Academic Theater named after V. Mayakovsky.
In 1933, he briefly taught clowning at the Moscow Circus Technical School.
Film Career
Tenin made his film debut in 1928 in Sergei Yutkevich's film "Lace." One of his notable roles was as soldier Ivan Shadrina in "The Man with a Gun" (1938).
For his portrayal of Murphy in the film "The Russian Question," Tenin was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1948. In his later years, he appeared in several television films.
Death and Legacy
Boris Tenin passed away in Moscow on September 8, 1990. He was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR. Tenin is remembered as a talented and versatile actor who made significant contributions to both stage and screen.
