Boris Voronkov: Soviet Master of Chess
Boris Voronkov was a distinguished Soviet chess player and coach. In 1976, he achieved the prestigious title of International Master (IM) by the International Correspondence Chess Federation (ICCF).
Early Life and Military Service
Born into a military family, Voronkov fought valiantly in the Great Patriotic War. As a commander in the 3rd Guards Tank Army, he participated in the liberation of Prague. Twice wounded in combat, he received numerous military honors.
