Early Life and Career
Borna Coric was born on November 14, 1996, in Zagreb, Croatia. He started playing tennis from a very young age and quickly showed remarkable skills for his age. In 2013, he reached the semifinals of the Australian Open and later repeated this achievement at the French Open. In the Junior US Open tournament, Coric defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis in the final match, becoming not only the singles champion but also the top-ranked junior player in the world.
Playing in the ITF Futures, Coric won five consecutive titles. In 2013, he was selected to represent Croatia in the Davis Cup, where he had the honor of playing against Andy Murray, the reigning Wimbledon champion. Despite a strong start and a promising first set, Coric was defeated by Murray.
