Boyd Leon Coddington, a well-known figure in the United States, was the owner of the "Boyd Coddington Hot Rod Shop" and the creator of infamous Hot Rods – vintage cars with powerful engines and modified interiors. Born on August 28, 1944, in Idaho, Boyd had a passion for cars running through his veins. At the age of eight, he became the owner of his first car, and by thirteen, he had built a real automobile with his own hands.

Boyd pursued his love for cars by studying automotive mechanics at Idaho State University after completing his education. In 1975, he moved to California and worked at Disneyland during the day, while at night, he worked tirelessly to turn his dream into reality. In 1977, he opened his first shop, "Hot Rods by Boyd." Over time, Boyd Coddington became renowned for creating unique cars for superstars. His real breakthrough came when celebrities like the famous musician Paul David Hewson, known as Bono, became his clients.
In 1988, Boyd founded Boyd's Wheels, Inc., a company that specialized in selling innovative and uniquely designed wheels. Throughout his career, Coddington proved himself to be a talented designer and achieved immense success. People longed for the cars of bygone eras, and Boyd was able to satisfy this desire by creating classic designs with a touch of modernity.
Boyd Coddington: The Great Aesthete
Boyd was a great aesthete, and his projects always captured attention. In the early 2000s, his activities caught the interest of the tax authorities, leading to significant financial and legal troubles for Coddington. In April 2005, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in the United States criminal justice system. In January 2008, Boyd Leon Coddington was hospitalized and underwent an operation that was expected to bring the famous Hot Rod creator a full recovery. Unfortunately, this was not the case, as Coddington passed away on February 27, 2008, due to complications arising from his prolonged battle with diabetes.
Today, Boyd Leon Coddington continues to be regarded as a master and legendary figure in the world of American Hot Rods. His death marked the end of an era, but his legacy lives on through his iconic designs. Boyd Coddington's contributions to the automotive industry will always be remembered, and his work remains highly influential to this day.
