Biography of Brad Jones
Brad Jones is an Australian footballer and goalkeeper for Liverpool FC. He began his professional career playing for the Bayswater City SC in Western Australia. He was then transferred to the youth division of Middlesbrough and in March 1999, he secured his first contract. His debut with the new team was in the third round of the FA Cup against Notts County. Brad was born in Armadale, Western Australia and his father was Australian while his mother was from Maghull, Liverpool.
Early Career
Brad Jones started his professional career playing for Bayswater City SC in Western Australia. He was then transferred to the youth division of Middlesbrough and in March 1999, he secured his first contract. His debut with the new team was in the third round of the FA Cup against Notts County.
Experience in Other Clubs
Throughout his career, Brad Jones had several loan spells with other clubs. In the 2001-2002 season, he played two matches for Shelbourne, an Irish club. He also played for Stockport County and Blackpool. However, he eventually returned to his original team.
Main Goalkeeper for Middlesbrough
When his coach Mark Schwarzer moved to Fulham, Brad Jones became the first-choice goalkeeper for Middlesbrough. In the 2008-2009 season, he suffered an injury that caused him to miss two matches. Despite the setback, he regained his position as the main goalkeeper and went on to play in the Premier League.
Move to Liverpool
In August 2010, Brad Jones was transferred to Liverpool for a fee of €2.3 million. He joined the club and became part of their squad.
International Career
Brad Jones also had an international career, representing Australia. He made his debut in a friendly match in February 2007 as a substitute for Mark Schwarzer. He also played against Uruguay in June 2007. In 2010, he was selected as one of the three goalkeepers to represent Australia in the FIFA World Cup. However, he had to withdraw from the tournament due to his son's leukemia diagnosis.
