Early Life and Musical Roots
Brad Paisley was born on October 28, 1972, in Glen Dale, West Virginia. His grandfather, Warren Jarris, instilled in him a love for country music from an early age. At the age of eight, Paisley began learning to play the guitar under his grandfather's tutelage. He wrote his first song at the age of twelve.
Education and College Years
Paisley attended Liberty Mountain Stage College and later transferred to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. While at Belmont, he met Frank Rogers, who encouraged him to release an album. Paisley also met Kelly Lovelace during this time. After graduating from Belmont, he signed a songwriting contract with EMI Music Publishing.
Early Success
In the late 1990s, Paisley released his debut album, featuring the single "Who Needs Pictures." He made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry in May of that year. His breakthrough hit, "He Didn't Have to Be," captured the hearts of Americans with its tale of a repentant philanderer.
Grammy Award Success
In 2000, Paisley released his first non-country crossover album. Throughout his career, Paisley has garnered numerous awards, including the Country Music Association's Horizon Award, the Academy of Country Music's Top Male Vocalist Award, and a Grammy Award in 2001 for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
Continued Musical Success
In 2003, Paisley released his third album, "Mud on the Tires," featuring the hit single "Celebrity." His 2005 album, "Two Hats and a Redhead Tour," spawned the hits "Alcohol," "When I Get Where I'm Going," and "Out in the Parking Lot," earning the Country Music Association's Album of the Year award.
In 2006, Paisley won four Grammy Awards for Best Country Album, Best Country Song, Best Country Instrumental Performance, and Best Male Country Vocal Performance. He released his fifth album, "Ticks," in June 2007.
