Brady Dougan: CEO of Credit Suisse
Brady William Dougan is an American financier and the CEO of the Swiss financial conglomerate, Credit Suisse. He has been serving as the CEO since 2007. Prior to this position, he was the CEO of the Investment Banking division of Credit Suisse and the Acting CEO of Credit Suisse Americas.
Early Life and Education
Brady Dougan was born on August 30, 1959, in Urbana, Illinois. He earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1981 and a Master of Business Administration with a focus on finance from the Chicago Booth School of Business in 1982.
Career at Credit Suisse
After starting his career at the American bank, Bankers Trust, Dougan joined the investment banking division of Credit Suisse Group, Credit Suisse First Boston, in 1990. He led the Equity Trading department for five years before becoming the head of the Securities Department in 2001.
From 2002 to July 2004, Dougan served as Co-President of the Institutional Structure at Credit Suisse First Boston. He then became the CEO of Credit Suisse First Boston from 2004 until May 2005. In January 2006, he became the CEO of the Investment Banking division of Credit Suisse, and in 2007, he was appointed as the CEO of Credit Suisse Group.
Philanthropy
Between July 1, 2011, and June 30, 2012, Dougan donated $25,000 or more to Vanderbilt University, a private research university. In January 2013, he became a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago.
