Origins and Early Days
In the early 1990s, fate brought us together with the renowned band "DDT" at a charity concert in Dnipropetrovsk. After the performance, DDT's frontman, Yuri Shevchuk, bestowed upon us the name "Bratya Karamazovy," which we have proudly carried ever since.
The Debut Album
In 1991, we recorded our debut album in a professional studio in Kyiv. Although it remained unreleased, the song "Malenkaya Staya" from that album gained widespread recognition almost instantly.
Festival Dominance and International Collaborations
From 1991 to 1993, we embarked on a series of trains, performing at various festivals, including "Rock Against Drugs and Alcoholism" alongside renowned artists such as "Brigada S," "Bratya Gadukiny," and Peter Mamonov. In 1994, we toured with three German punk bands, culminating in a performance in the field of Tarakanovka, Rovenskaya oblast.
Breakthrough and Critical Acclaim
In 1995, we recorded our album "Sem Hludshikh Pesen Raznykh Let. Tom 1" in Kirovograd (Elizavetograd). That same year, we released our first video film in St. Petersburg and Kyiv, featuring live performances from the album. In 1996, we played at the "Autumn Rock Marathon" in Kyiv alongside the legendary "DEEP PURPLE."
Artistic Evolution and Global Impact
Throughout the late 1990s, we continued to evolve musically and expand our reach. We participated in festivals in St. Petersburg, Odessa, and Tavria, and recorded our album "Ledokol Kiev." In 1998, we embarked on a extensive tour of 56 cities and collaborated with "Voskresenie" in Berdyansk. We began recording our album "2-Up-Sae" in Moscow's prestigious conservatory, with renowned producer Evgeny Margulis.
Egyptian Desert and International Festival Performances
In 1999, we completed the recording of "2-Up-Sae" and filmed a music video in the Arabian desert in Egypt. We performed at the "Rock-Kiev" festival alongside an array of international stars, including "Metallica," "Zucchero," "Coolio," and "Alphaville."
Anniversary Celebrations and Recognition
The year 2000 marked our tenth anniversary as a band. We celebrated with a grand concert in Maidan Nezalezhnosti, joined by fifteen young bands from across Ukraine, as well as "Komu Vnizu," "Mashina Vremeni," "Voskresenie," and "DDT." We received numerous accolades, including "Group of the Year" at the "Vibor Molodi" awards and the "Golden Feather of the Firebird" at the "Tavria Games."
International Collaborations and Touring
In 2001, we shared the stage with "Uriah Heep" in Belarus. Vocalist Bernie Shaw's subsequent attempt to relocate to Kyiv marked his second such endeavor. In 2002, we embarked on a 29-city tour in Ukraine, followed by festival performances in Rostov-on-Don, Moscow, and Odessa. We ended the year with an acoustic performance at the Lesya Ukrainka National Academic Russian Drama Theater.
Spiritual Explorations and New Album
In 2003, we focused on songwriting and spiritual exploration. In 2004, we began recording our new album in St. Petersburg's "Studio DDT." We completed the recording in Kyiv at "KRUZ-Rec" studio. That year also saw us undertake pilgrimages to Israel, Nepal, and the Holosiivska Pustyn Monastery.
Album Release, Film Scoring, and Final Words
In 2005, we released our album "V Mire Zhivotnykh. Chast I. Belmondo." We also scored the film "Cherno-Belaya Afrika." And with that, we take our leave as Bratya Karamazovy.
