Biography of Linda Perry
American rock musician, songwriter, and sound producer Linda Perry is the founder of two record labels and a renowned writer and producer of many hits by artists such as Christina Aguilera (remember the popular song 'Beautiful'), Gwen Stefani (the song 'What You Waiting For' from her album 'Love Angel Music Baby'), and Pink (the number one hit 'Get the Party Started' written by Perry). She has also worked on albums by Courtney Love and Kelly Osbourne.

Early Life and Musical Influences
Linda Perry, an American rock musician, songwriter, and sound producer, has Portuguese and Brazilian roots. She is best known as the lead vocalist and original songwriter of the rock band '4 Non Blondes'. Perry grew up in a large family, with her parents giving her five brothers and a sister named Sally. Her mother, who was born in Brazil, worked as a model, designer, and private detective. Her late father, a Portuguese-American named Alfred Xavier, was both an engineer and a musician.

Perry spent her youth battling liver cysts while pursuing her passion for music. Growing up in an artistic atmosphere with a love for music at home, young Linda amazed everyone with her musical talents and interests. From a young age, Linda listened to Brazilian artists with her mother and watched her father play the guitar and piano or listen to country music and Frank Sinatra. Even her sister influenced her, being an avid fan of Elvis Presley. It was hard to resist the influence, and Linda, following in her father's footsteps, began playing the piano and guitar while observing what her older brother, who had formed his own band and rehearsed in the garage, was doing with the strings. In an interview, she mentioned that she wrote her first song, 'Pity Girls,' at the age of 15. However, it was also at this age that she had to drop out of school with only nine years of education due to her ongoing health issues.

Early Music Career
In early 1987, Linda moved to San Francisco. Although she had started playing the guitar in San Diego during her teenage years and auditioning for girl groups, her arrival in San Francisco had a significant impact on her musical career. While working at a pizzeria, she lived in a small windowless room and sang her own songs on the streets of the city. Slowly, people began to recognize her as a "bird with a powerful voice," and Linda recorded her first professional composition, 'Down On Your Face.' She was then accepted into the band '4 Non Blondes,' formed by Christa Hillhouse in the mid-1989.

After several years, the band managed to sign a contract with the label 'Interscope' and release their debut album, 'Bigger, Better, Faster, More!,' with the hit single 'What's Up?' written by Perry. As part of the promotional campaign, the band embarked on a worldwide tour, and Linda's performance at the 1994 'Billboard' Music Awards with the word 'lesbian' on her guitar left no doubt that the rock musician was openly gay. In May 2009, Linda began dating Sybil Shepherd's daughter, Clementine Ford, confirming her sexual orientation. Despite the success of '4 Non Blondes,' Linda eventually left the band in favor of a solo career.
Solo Career and Musical Collaborations
Linda struggled to release her solo CD and promote it with her own resources. She embarked on a world tour with the band 'Red Fish, Blue Fish.' Unsatisfied with her experience in the showbiz world, Linda decided to create her own label, 'Rockstar,' and focused on releasing the 'Stone Fox' group's album while signing a contract with another local band from San Francisco. Not forgetting about herself, Linda released her second solo album, 'After Hours.'
In 2001, new material was born, and Linda hoped to sign with a powerful label. While remaining an independent artist, she spent most of her time in the office rather than on stage, where she wrote the songs 'Beautiful' and 'Cruz,' which became hits on Christina Aguilera's album 'Stripped.' Later, the song 'Beautiful' was nominated for a Grammy Award for 'Song of the Year.'
In 2002, Linda performed live at the 'Knitting Factory' music club in Los Angeles, showcasing several original sets and covers that were well-received by her audience. Three years later, she made a full-fledged appearance at the Sundance Film Festival. Linda found the independent label 'Kill Rock Stars,' which re-released her solo album 'In Flight.' In 2008, she appeared as a guitarist in Christina Aguilera's music video for the song 'Save Me From Myself.'
Linda is also known for her collaboration with pop-rock singer Pink. She wrote and produced a significant portion of the songs on Pink's successful album 'Missundaztood,' which garnered attention and established her reputation as one of the best and most successful producers in the music industry. The list of musical stars Linda has worked with is endless, making her a highly sought-after producer and songwriter.
Currently, Linda Perry continues to be selected by renowned musicians, and she takes pride in her work with Christina Aguilera and Courtney Love. She expresses her willingness to work with other artists from the 70s, although many of them are either deceased or retired. Linda has no plans to continue her solo career in the foreseeable future.
