Biography of Brian Hansen
Brian Hansen is an American athlete and speed skater. He was born on September 3, 1990, in Evanston, Illinois. Standing at a height of 180 cm and weighing 75 kg, Hansen began his sports career in a hockey team at the age of ten before transitioning to short track speed skating. He trained at the 'Northbrook' club near his home. Throughout his school years, Hansen also explored other sports such as swimming, soccer, tennis, and snowboarding, alongside speed skating. However, he excelled on the speed skating oval and decided to focus his efforts on this sport.

Early Career
Hansen started competing in speed skating events in 2008. In both 2008 and 2009, he finished second in the overall standings of the U.S. National Junior Speed Skating Championship. At the Junior World Championships in 2008, Hansen achieved a sixth-place finish. In Zakopane, Poland, in 2009, he won a silver medal in the 5000 meters and a bronze medal in the team pursuit race. He also finished fourth in the 3000 meters. Hansen placed third in the U.S. National Championship in 2009 but only managed a sixteenth-place finish in the World Allround Speed Skating Championship held the same year. At the 2009 World Single Distance Championships, he won a bronze medal in the team pursuit event. Hansen still holds four American records among juniors and one youth world record.

Olympic and Future Aspirations
To train at the Olympic Training Center under the guidance of coach Nancy Swider-Peltz, a renowned speed skater and four-time Olympic champion, Brian Hansen had to relocate from Chicago to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Hansen qualified for the 1500 meters but finished in eighteenth place. As a young athlete, his greatest victories are yet to come. He is the youngest member of the U.S. national team in long-distance speed skating and the only junior skater. When asked about his preferred distances, Hansen simply replies, "All of them!" In the future, the young speed skater plans to study business management at Marquette University, a prestigious institution located in Milwaukee.
