Early Life and Amateur CareerBronny James, born October 6, 2004, is an aspiring American basketball player attending Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles. As the eldest son of NBA All-Star LeBron James, Bronny has been in the limelight since childhood.
Initially involved in multiple sports, Bronny ultimately focused on basketball. By 2014, his impressive skills caught national attention through basketball reels. In 2018, he enrolled in St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, where he led his team to an Independent School League tournament victory.
Throughout his youth, Bronny competed with various Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) teams. He played for the Miami City Ballers at age nine, catching the eye of Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari. In 2015, he led the Gulf Coast Blue Chips AAU team to the fourth-grade championship at the League Dallas/Hype Sports Summer Jam.
High School Career
In 2018, Bronny joined Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California. Due to California state rules, he was initially unable to participate in varsity basketball.
In 2019, he transferred to Sierra Canyon School for his freshman year, alongside his brother Bryce and Zaire Wade, son of NBA legend Dwyane Wade. The team, featuring five-star recruits like Bronny, BJ Boston, and Ziaire Williams, was ranked among the nation's best.
Bronny made his high school debut in November 2019, scoring 10 points off the bench. In December, he earned MVP honors in a victory over his father's alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. He set a season-high with 17 points in January 2020.
Recruiting and Player Profile
Despite being young, Bronny has already received scholarship offers from major colleges. As of 2021, Kentucky is the only school to have officially extended an offer.
Standing at 6'3'', Bronny is a versatile guard capable of playing both point and shooting guard positions. He possesses a smooth stroke, excellent ball-handling skills, and a high basketball IQ.
Personal Life
Bronny is the older brother of Bryce and the younger brother of Zhuri. NBA All-Star Chris Paul is his godfather. He has worn jersey numbers 0 and 23, inspired by Russell Westbrook and his father, respectively.
