Tibet Expeditions

Led two expeditions to the eastern borders of Tibet in 1931 and 1934-1935.

The first expedition included German zoologist Ernst Schäfer, Gordon Bowles, Otto Gaiser, and Hugo Weigold.

Lhasa Mission

In October 1942, accompanied by U.S. Army officer Ilya Tolstoy, reached Lhasa as part of a stratigraphic expedition.
