Early Life and Education
Bruce Travis McGill was born on July 11, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas. His mother, Adriel Rose (Jacobs), was an actress and his father, Woodrow Wilson McGill, was an insurance and real estate agent.
Bruce attended Douglas MacArthur High School in northeast San Antonio and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama from the University of Texas at Austin.
Breakthrough Role in "Animal House"
While trying to establish himself as an actor in New York City, Bruce landed his breakout role in the 1978 comedy classic "Animal House." His portrayal of Daniel "D-Day" Simpson, who taps his fingers to the overture of "William Tell," remains iconic.
