Career
At the age of 19, Ganz made his film debut in 1960. In 1962, he moved to Germany, where he appeared in numerous films and plays. Ganz worked with renowned European directors such as Wim Wenders, Eric Rohmer, Werner Herzog, and Volker Schlondorff.
Rise to Fame
Ganz gained recognition in the 1970s and 1980s with films like Wim Wenders' "Wings of Desire," where he portrayed an angel. He also achieved success in later films such as "Bread and Tulips" and "Downfall," in which he played Adolf Hitler.
Awards and Personal Life
Since 1996, Ganz has been the owner of the Iffland-Ring, a prestigious award in the German-speaking theater world. He is married and has a son. Ganz currently resides in his hometown of Zurich, as well as Venice and Berlin.
