Childhood and Family

Born into a large Roma family in Ukraine, Busha Gooman's musical talent emerged from an early age. Even without formal training, his natural vocal abilities and Roma heritage endowed him with an exceptional voice. He was given the name "Busha" after his uncle, a member of the Hungarian Roma group known as "Ungo." When Busha was still young, his family relocated to the Moscow suburbs, where he spent his youth in Lyubertsy.

Musical Influences

Growing up, Busha was surrounded by a family that shared his passion for music. His father played multiple instruments, and his older brother, Vanya, introduced him to the music of Stevie Wonder and George Benson. At the tender age of eight, Busha began composing his own songs. Through connections in Lyubertsy, he gained access to the world of showbiz, meeting producers and recording studio time.

Early Career

Busha's musical journey began under the guidance of Sergei Krylov, who played a significant role in his development. After recording two tracks at a prestigious studio, Busha showcased his talent on stage and in various musical competitions, including the renowned "Morning Star." While his style was unconventional, he gained a niche following and enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle.

'The Voice' Breakthrough

In 2014, Busha Gooman emerged on the third season of the Russian television show "The Voice." Hoping to make his mark on the national stage, he impressed the judges with his rendition of "Nothing Gonna Change My Love for You." Alexander Gradsky immediately turned his chair, and Busha chose him as his mentor. During the "duels" stage, Busha faced off against Ulyana Sinetskaya in a performance that sparked a friendship between the two. To everyone's surprise, Gradsky chose Busha over the younger singer.

'Knockouts' and Beyond

In the "knockouts" round, Busha astonished the audience with a powerful performance of "Ederlezi," a Romani folk song brought to popularity by the film "Time of the Gypsies." Accompanied by his musically talented children and nephews, Busha's stirring rendition showcased his deep connection to his heritage. He subsequently advanced to the quarterfinals, bringing him closer to the semi-finals.

Personal Life

Busha Gooman is a devoted father of seven children, with an eighth on the way. His Christian faith holds great importance in his life, and he instills the same values in his family. After his "blind" audition, his entire family appeared on stage, leaving the judges in awe. Busha acknowledges that his Roma heritage and strong-willed personality have presented challenges, but he has learned to overcome adversity and embrace reconciliation.
