Biography of Butch Reed

Butch Reed, a professional wrestler, was born on July 11, 1954, in the United States of America. He developed an interest in sports at an early age but did not start wrestling until 1978 when he enrolled at the University of Central Missouri. Prior to that, Reed played football for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Early Career and Success

Reed achieved his first major title in 1981 and continued to shine in various championships. On July 16, 1983, he won the Mid-South North American Championship, and later, in partnership with Jim Neidhart, he secured victory at the Mid-South Tag Team Championship. However, conflicts arose between Reed and Neidhart, leading to their eventual separation. Reed then teamed up with Terry Taylor, who became a star in 1984 thanks to their joint performances.

Mid-South and American Wrestling Association

Reed later left Mid-South and joined the American Wrestling Association, but in the mid-1980s, he returned to Mid-South and continued his wrestling career. In October 1985, Reed won the North American title by defeating Dick Murdoch but lost the title to Dick Slater in the following year.

World Wrestling Federation and National Wrestling Alliance

Joining the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), Reed competed actively and gradually made progress. In the late 1980s, he left WWF and joined the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). Although initially not very successful, Reed remained determined and shone at the Chi-Town Rumble in February 1989. In the early 1990s, he became a member of the United States Wrestling Association and had several outstanding performances, including at the Unified World Heavyweight Championship in October 1992.

Later Career

Reed continued to wrestle for some time and retired from professional wrestling in 2002. In 2005, he made a comeback and won the Heavyweight Champion title in the "Mid States Wrestling." In 2006, Reed participated in the "Legends of Wrestling" tour.
