Biography of Karine Gilson
Karine Gilson, a magnificent designer of women's lingerie, was born in Belgium and worked in Paris. She began her creative career with studies at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts. After graduating, Gilson continued her education at the famous Antwerp Fashion School, whose alumni included talented Belgian designer Dries Van Noten and renowned fashion nonconformist Martin Margiela.
The Birth of a Brand
During her time in Antwerp, Karine was so captivated by delicate lace that she set out to realize her own ambitious project. In 1944, she founded her new luxury lingerie brand, "haute couture." Gilson's philosophy is that women's lingerie should no longer be just a piece of clothing or a necessity. This approach is shared by many designers of high-quality lingerie. Carefully selecting materials for her work, Karine uses top-notch lace such as Chantilly and luxurious Lyons silk, as well as a variety of color palettes. Thus, the "Carine Gilson" brand is born, showcasing her unique interpretation of the role lingerie plays in a woman's life.
Exquisite Design
Gilson's works are so delicate and airy that their gentleness and magic seem to be borrowed from another reality. Vintage shades and classic black fabrics are used in the design in a way that they rarely blend together. Caramel silk is adorned with embroidery or ruffles made from the main fabric. However, when contrasting accents are used, everything looks incredibly refined and noble. Beautiful beige flowers on a black background or the silhouette of black embroidery on a beige background can be seen. Despite using contrasting details, Karine never compromises her signature refinement, even when it comes to sets. Adorned with flowers, the sets look incredibly delicate, creating a sense of weightlessness. In addition to the traditional set of panties and a bra, Gilson's collection includes semi-transparent robes embellished with intricate lace, silk nightgowns, and seductive corsets.
