Early Life and Collegiate Career
Born in Torrance, California, Carlos Bocanegra began his soccer journey at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). As a Bruin, he made a significant impact, helping the team reach the NCAA College Cup semifinals.
Professional Career
Chicago Fire (2000-2004)In 2000, Bocanegra was drafted fourth overall by the Chicago Fire. During his four years with the team, he established himself as a reliable defender and contributed to their 2003 U.S. Open Cup victory.
Fulham (2004-2008)
In 2004, Bocanegra transferred to Fulham in the English Premier League. He spent four seasons with the Cottagers, earning a reputation as a versatile and consistent performer. Despite being a defender, he became Fulham's second leading scorer in the 2006-07 season with five goals.
Rennes (2008-2010)
