Early Career and Polish SuccessMaciej Żurawski, a renowned Polish footballer, began his professional career in 1994 with Warta Poznań. After brief stints with Lech Poznań and Warta Poznań, he joined Wisła Kraków in 1999. With Wisła, he achieved exceptional success, winning five Polish Ekstraklasa titles (2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2011) and two Polish Cups (2002, 2003). Moreover, he was named Polish Footballer of the Year in 2002 and emerged as the league's top goalscorer in 2002 and 2004.
Scottish Adventure at Celtic
In 2005, Żurawski moved to Celtic in Scotland. During his two seasons with the Glasgow giants, he netted 23 goals in 35 Scottish Premiership appearances. He became an iconic figure, earning the nickname "Magic Mags" from Celtic's Catholic fanbase. He contributed to Celtic's Scottish Premiership titles in 2006 and 2007, as well as the Scottish League Cup triumph in 2006. Notably, he scored a poker against Dunfermline and a winning goal in the Old Firm derby against Rangers.
Polish National Team
Żurawski made his international debut for Poland in 1998. Over the course of his career, he represented his country 72 times and scored 17 goals. He was a key member of the Polish team, contributing to their success in international competitions.
Retirement and Legacy
After leaving Celtic in 2007, Żurawski returned to Wisła Kraków and later played for Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus before retiring in 2012. He remains one of Poland's most decorated footballers, known for his exceptional goalscoring ability and contributions to both club and country.
