On November 25, 1980, he etched his name in history by knocking out Marvin Camel (36-2-2) and claiming the WBC cruiserweight championship belt.
Ascendant and Descent
De Leon's reign atop the division was briefly interrupted in 1982 when he lost the title to S. T. Gordon (21-5). However, his indomitable spirit propelled him to a rematch with Gordon in March 1983, where he reclaimed the WBC championship with a resounding knockout.
Unmatched Dominance
De Leon's reign as cruiserweight champion reached its pinnacle in 1986 when he became the undisputed champion, holding the WBC, WBA, and IBF belts simultaneously. This unparalleled achievement solidified his place among the boxing elite.
