Early Career

Carlos Manuel Baldomir, an Argentine professional boxer, debuted in 1993 and competed in the super welterweight division. Fighting predominantly in his home country, Baldomir experienced a mix of victories and defeats.

Breakthrough

In November 1999, Baldomir faced undefeated prospect Joshua Clottey. Despite trailing on points, Baldomir secured a victory by disqualification in the 11th round due to Clottey's infractions.

WBC Welterweight Title

On January 7, 2006, Baldomir faced the reigning undisputed welterweight champion, Zab Judah. With only the WBC title at stake due to financial constraints, Baldomir defied expectations and defeated Judah via unanimous decision. The victory was considered an upset of the year by The Ring magazine and resulted in the WBA stripping Judah of their belt.

Defending the Title

Baldomir successfully defended his WBC title against Arturo Gatti in July 2006, triumphing via technical knockout in the 9th round. His reign ended later that year, as he lost to Floyd Mayweather in November 2006.

Later Career and Retirement

Following his defeat to Mayweather, Baldomir moved up to super welterweight. He suffered a defeat to Vernon Forrest in an eliminator bout in 2007 and subsequently retired from boxing.
