Trevor Berbick, a Jamaican-Canadian professional boxer, was the heavyweight world champion according to the World Boxing Council (WBC). He became the first Jamaican-born boxer to win a title in the heavyweight division.

Early Career and Rise to Fame

In December 1981, Berbick achieved a significant victory when he defeated Muhammad Ali, leading Ali to retire from boxing. This fight, which took place in the Bahamas, became known as the "Drama in the Bahamas." It marked a turning point in Berbick's career, propelling him into the spotlight.

Becoming WBC Champion

In March 1986, Berbick secured the WBC title by defeating Pinklon Thomas through a unanimous decision. This victory made him the heavyweight champion of the world. However, his reign was short-lived.
