Early Life and Career at Ponte Preta
Carlos, a Brazilian goalkeeper, began his professional career with Ponte Preta in 1974. During his tenure at Ponte, he twice became the runner-up in the São Paulo State Championship and was twice recognized as the nation's best goalkeeper. He represented Brazil at the youth and senior levels, appearing in two FIFA World Cups without seeing any game action.
Success with Corinthians and International Debut
In 1984, Carlos joined Corinthians and spent four years with the club. With Corinthians, he won the São Paulo State Championship and competed in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. In a pivotal match against France, a penalty kick from Bruno Bellone ricocheted off the crossbar onto Carlos' back and into the goal, resulting in a heartbreaking loss for the Brazilian team.
Later Club Career
Following his time with Corinthians, Carlos played for Turkish club Malatyaspor, Atlético Mineiro, Guarani, Palmeiras, and Portuguesa Desportos.
Coaching Career
After retiring from playing, Carlos transitioned into coaching, holding various positions. He served as head coach for Operário and Campo Grande, and as a goalkeeper coach for Ponte Preta and Noroeste.
