Early Life and Training

Stardom in Milan

Arrival in St. Petersburg
In 1887, she traveled to St. Petersburg, where she initially performed at the Arkady Theater. Her debut in Benjamin Schel's "Harlem Tulip" proved to be a triumph, showcasing her impeccable technique and graceful stage presence.
Legendary Performance at the Mariinsky Theater
In 1889, she was invited to join the renowned Mariinsky Theater. On January 3, 1890, she made history by becoming the first dancer to perform the role of Princess Aurora in Pyotr Tchaikovsky's iconic "Sleeping Beauty." Her exquisite interpretation alongside renowned colleagues such as Pavel Gerdt, Maria Petipa, and Enrico Cecchetti left an indelible mark on the ballet world.
Return to Italy and Later Career
In 1891, she left Russia and returned to La Scala, continuing to captivate audiences with her remarkable artistry. She also performed in Vienna and made her final appearance in London in 1921 as the Fairy Carabosse in "Sleeping Beauty," collaborating with Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes.
